Josephine + Matt | Hotel DuPont Wedding

We happily traveled to Wilmington, Delaware to photograph Josephine and Matt’s wedding. We had already met them, and they are just great to be around of. We loved doing their engagement session at Longwood Gardens (a beautiful and fitting place for a couple getting married at the DuPont), and we had even gotten to meet Josephine’s family for a little bit that day. We were also excited about the hotel, but once there, the DuPont was even better than we expected. The building has so much character, and it’s a perfect venue for a winter wedding.

The day started with the door games, where Matt had to gain the privilege to make it through the door to see Josephine, by passing the challenges organized by Josephine’s closest people. It was so much fun, at least for those of us who didn’t have to eat the sour stuff. Seeing their faces right when Matt finally got to cross the door was the sweetest.

After that, came the traditional Tea Ceremony. It was beautiful to witness them honoring their families, and listening to their heartfelt words. I am so glad we got to document the whole morning for them.

Later, came the wedding ceremony, which took place in the Du Barry room. It was a happy ceremony, with laughter, and the good kind of tears. Then we did the formal family photos in the coolest room by a fireplace, and after we headed outside on an unseasonably warm winter day for photos of Josephine and Matt.

Finally, there was the Gold Ballroom reception. The ballroom is gorgeous, with sky high ceilings, and details in every corner, but my favorite part was all the joy and fun took place.
