This Belmar wedding at the Taylor Pavilion is one of my favorites ever. If you want a happy carefree wedding, do what Lauren and Pat did. I’m not talking about the barefoot ceremony or the dancing almost non-stop since they walked into the reception all the way till the end of the afterparty, I’m talking about doing what feels right for the two of you, and then just enjoying it as much as possible.
This is how their day went.
Lauren and the girls got ready at a super cool suite at The Asbury Hotel. All the windows made the light bright and dreamy. Both her and Pat were all about celebrating and having lots of photos of their people, and were not really interested in having too many photos of things, so as soon as I got there she was ready to get into her beautiful dress and go see Pat under the pier. Unfortunately the plan was for Scott to go straight to the Belmar Fishing Club pier, so we both missed Pat riding his bicycle to the beach for the first look. It was sweet, and they just kept laughing and smiling.
From there we went to the gazebo by Silver Lake, to go through a long list of photos, but these guys were great. And ocean blues, teals and greens were some of my favorite wedding party colors ever. We were running a bit late at this point, but this is one thing we definitely have a system for, so we got them done as fast as humanly possible and had everybody at the venue with enough time to have a drink before the beach ceremony. I won’t show you all the combinations here but look how pretty these colors are!
At this point it had gotten very cloudy, but the ceremony started outside as planned. It was a really nice ceremony, with the ocean in the background and were shoes were optional. And one of my favorite little moments of the day was when suddenly right before they were pronounced husband and wife, the sun came out and Lauren turned towards the light with a big smile on her face. From there they walked to the beach to just have a few minutes together by the water, how perfect is that.
After cocktail hour on the deck, came the reception with live music from Pat Roddy. After sharing a first dance to Led Zeppelin’s Thank You (♡!), they rarely left the dance floor, it was one fun party. They didn’t want sunset photos because they just wanted to have fun, and they had so much fun, and then some more on their afterparty.
After picking the photos for this blog post yesterday, I saw Lauren on Instagram celebrating her birthday. It was so great to see her smiling face. These two are as happy, fun and sweet as it gets.
Thank you for having us there with you.
