We traveled over 700 miles for this Chippewa Lake Wedding in Ohio (including a little detour to Pittsburgh on the way back), and my only complaint is that we didn’t have time to spend one or two more nights on the road.
I first met Rebecca and Jeff when they suddenly reached out to see if I could do their engagement photos within the next few days. I had one of my best friends visiting from DC, and he had a brand new camera to try, so he came along and we had a really nice time. They were living at Boiling Springs at the time, which is really pretty, so we did the photos there. We walked around part of the Appalachian trail, and around Childrens Lake on a colorful fall day. And then at the end, we got to meet their three cats ☺️. I knew I liked them then, but going over their contract in an italian restaurant over dinner and wine didn’t hurt.
Then come last September, we got to head to Ohio for their wedding! We didn’t have a ton of extra time for the trip, but we made the best of it. We stopped to eat at Olives & Peppers outside Pittsburg, and what we had was delicious. Then we got back on the road, and arrived at the tiny tiny rustic cabin that was our home for the next two nights in Seville, OH.
We thought we would have rain for their wedding, but the morning came and it ended up being a pretty nice day. The wedding took place at The Oaks Lakeside in Chippewa Lake, OH. The lakeside ceremony was a funny, and heartfelt, beautifully officiated by their friend. Rebecca’s brother and his band played during cocktail hour, and the subtle animal themed reception was both pretty and a blast! (scroll down to see their cake).
We stopped in Pittsburgh on the way back, crossed bridges, walked around, had tacos at a street food festival, a great cup of coffee, saw a dog sitting down on a table at a restaurant (on a chair), and then Scott drove some more to get us home. Hopefully we will have a reason to go back to explore Ohio and Pittsburgh soon.
For now, scroll down to see the lake views, the happy first look, including Rebecca’s dance moves to show she could dance in her gorgeous dress, the beautiful ceremony that made me laugh and got my eyes foggy at the same time, and a very fun reception.
